Canon PIXMA G5050 Driver Download
Canon PIXMA G5050 Driver Download– The Canon PIXMA G5050 integrates four ink accumulations in an amazingly compact three-in-one device and comes with a generous six-bottle of ink in a box. This is enough to print 18,000 black and white pages and 7,700 in color. There is enough space to load 350 sheets of paper and can be easily accessed via a USB cable or Wi-Fi with an intuitive smartphone app for cloud printing and scanning. In short, it is well stated for use in a small office that needs to turn out a lot of documents and photos.
At about £300 (about us $380, au $550) Canon PIXMA G5050 looks expensive with other office inkjet with more features, until you consider six bottles of ink (three black and three colors) that come in a box. Take this into account and the Canon PIXMA G5050 looks like a bargain.
Design and construction
The Canon PIXMA G5050 integrates four large cartridge inks into an amazing compact design. There is a clear design advantage in making away with bulky plastic cartridge inks because it has space inside for a pretty deep 250 sheet of paper panels. You can load another 100 sheets in the rear drawer, and that’s where the photo paper and envelopes should go.
It’s encouraging to see actual ink levels instead of waiting for your printer to tell you that one of your cartridges is empty. The tanks are pretty big, so you won’t be filling up often. The main paper tray also has a transparent plastic window that lets you see how much paper is inside.
Unlike other Canon’s PIXMA printers, dominated by a large colour touchscreen, the new G series has only two monocous LCD lines in its dashboard. It’s a disappointing step backwards, but a necessary sacrifice to obtain ink cartridges while keeping the costs down. There is no SD card slot or front USB port for the same reason. A bed with a A4 size scanner is at the top and if you don’t need a scanner, it’s more accessible to PIXMA G5050 essentially the same machine without a scanner.
Features and specifications
Being a 3-in-one device means that you can print, scan, and copy. No fax, but there are many other key features. Can automatically print both sides of the page, for example, and can handle all sizes of paper to A4. This includes glossy photo paper, envelopes and stickers for the package, which can be loaded into the back tray.
There are USB and Ethernet ports on the back, and with built-in Wi-Fi, you can also connect wirelessly over a network or by using Wi-Fi Direct. AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, PictBridge and Canon’s own PIXMA Cloud link are available for Easy cloud printing.
The print resolution is 4800×1200 dpi, while scanning at 1200 x 2400 that are reasonably high resolution and promising powerful copy functionality. The quoted print speed is quite slow to 13 IPM in mono and only 6 IPM colours.
So, what features are missing? Well, there is no ADF (Automatic document feeder) or fax and no NFC connectivity or Flash memory card slots for photographers. Unfortunately, there is not even a front USB port to print directly from the thumb drive either. Too bad there are only four inks available, because other Canon printers often use five or even six colors to compose a photo. In this case, black ink is a pigment (instead of color), which is great for text documents, but there is no additional black color which is better for printing photos.
Setup and Operation
Setting up a Canon PIXMA G5050 includes the first mounting of two fine manuals inkjet cartridges, which seems surprising for the supposedly cartridge less system. However, these two small carts do not have to be replaced.
When you are in place, then you can pour the ink out of the bottle. Nozzles are designed so that you can fill each tank on top without shedding drops. However, it would be possible to pour the wrong color into the wrong tank, so be careful. The tanks are stopped by a rubber seal, although we would not advise keeping this thing on its side if you have to put it back in the cartridge box in the tanks.
Unlike Canon’s similar printers, PIXMA TS8050, for example, does not have a setup wizard to help you connect to a wireless network or print test pages to check the alignment of the printhead. Canon’s accompanying app will connect you to the Wi-Fi network, so you can use your smartphone to enter your Wi-Fi password, but will not give you access to the printer settings.
Unfortunately, the interface is quite unintuitive compared to most modern printers and the two-line screen restricts. This is a case of slipping on a small screen and cycling through a lot of options using two cursor buttons to find and change each setting.
When you load paper in a tray or type a new sheet in the back tray, the screen will be asked to choose a paper type that is somewhat dull using two pointer buttons, and several times we have had to turn off the machine and force it back into a recognized paper that is Properly loaded.
Performance
Canon PIXMA G5050 prints slowly but steadily, it turns out the Monochontal page to about 13 pages per minute. It prints pretty quietly and the text documents look especially fresh and bold. Black pigment ink used well stands out, giving individual characters a clear clarity to very small point sizes. Pages of text are created with the consistency and quality that you can expect from a laser printer, albeit at a much slower rate. And in terms of cost per page, it actually works out cheaper.
Color documents also show good consistency and detail. They appear at even slower than about six pages per minute, and the colors look a bit muffled compared to other ink, but are perfectly acceptable. Photos, however, seem a little too humiliated in terms of color. Blues and Reds can be said to be more natural in appearance than many overly lively manuals inkjet printers. However, the greenery looks a little flushed and blacks appear quite gray. The level of detail is high and in other respects, photo prints look good on photo paper, they simply lack fidelity in color achieves Canon’s five and six color systems.
We only experienced one jammed paper during the test and successfully printed on envelopes and stickers without problems. Duplex printing is slow but successful and is not limited to A4 paper only. It can also print the A5 and B5 pages bidirectional.
Scanning documents to your computer is very straight forward and 1200 x 2400 resolution ensures that it is good and sharp. Photocoped documents also look very faithful in terms of detail, however, there is a slight softening of colors in the copied document.
Final verdict
In addition to luxury such as NFC connectivity and the front connectors for Flashmemory, the Canon PIXMA G5050 is well-contained with a good scanner and automatic duplex printing. A tiny screen is a little frustrating if you’re accustomed to the touchscreen interface and this printer isn’t fast, but it prints accurately and reliably and the document texts look great. Photo prints and fine, but not as vivid as some inks can manage. The main advantage here is the refilled system inks that makes Inkjet print manuals far more economical than it has ever been with cartridges.
